Professional Development and Support in The Orton-Gillingham Approach

Company Mission & Philosophy

Literacy for Life strives to provide the highest quality professional development courses and ongoing support to educators and dyslexia advocates so that they have the skills needed to help their students reach their reading and educational goals.

Our trainers and staff have dedicated their professional careers to training and supporting teachers in the systematic, sequential, structured, and multisensory teachings of The Orton-Gillingham Approach.

What is the Orton-Gillingham Approach?

Orton-Gillingham is an instructional approach intended primarily for use with persons who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing. In the hands of a well-trained and experienced instructor, it is an exceptionally powerful tool.

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is the gold standard of remediation for students with language based learning disabilities and is the basis for virtually every remedial program on the market today.

Who does Literacy for Life Inc. help?

First and foremost, our goal is to help individuals who struggle with language, specifically written language. In order to help students with dyslexia, language based learning differences, and those who struggle with reading we must first provide educators and guardians with valuable instructional practices.

Literacy for Life gives educators the tools they need to teach students the highly effective skills that they need to achieve long term educational and personal success. Through LFL training courses educators will gain a better understanding of the structural basis on the English Language and feel empowered to take the information into their classrooms, homes, and tutoring sessions.

What makes Literacy for Life Inc. different?

Literacy for Life is NOT a program, you are given the information and knowledge needed to create lessons, activities, and various other materials for your student(s). Literacy for Life instructs its trainees in pure Orton-Gillingham, which allows teachers to be as flexible and creative as they want to be. Literacy for Life also offers a wide range of training courses from structured literacy, advanced morphology to grammar and enhancing executive functioning.
